Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Space Science (OSS) is releasing an Announcement of Opportunity (AO NNH04ZSS001O) entitled Mars Science Laboratory Investigations (MSL) to solicit proposals for (MSL) investigations for a space flight mission to be launched in December 2009.     The AO and additional information about the intent and the likely capabilities of the MSL rover is located at: http://centauri.larc.nasa.gov/msl/MSLlib.html These investigations will respond to the overall MSL science objective to explore and quantitatively assess Mars as a potential habitat for life, past or present. Participation in this AO will be open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic, including educational institutions, industry, nonprofit organizations, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, NASA centers, and other Government agencies.     Principal Investigators are responsible for and may assemble their investigation teams from any of these organizations.     This solicitation will be open for 90 days after its release.         A preproposal conference will be held on May 4, 2004, in Washington, DC.     Questions or comments about the planned solicitation may be addressed to the NASA Program Scientist for the Mars Science Laboratory: Dr. Michael Meyer, Ref: MSL, Solar System Exploration Division, Code SE, Office of Space Science, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Washington, DC 20546-0001; E-mail: michael.a.meyer@nasa.gov; Telephone: (202) 358-0307; Facsimile: (202) 358-3097.     This is a broad Agency announcement as specified in FAR 6.102 (d) (2).
