The 20th Anniversary of the Tech Museum of Innovation’s Tech Challenge was held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 and focused on designing a device that could withstand a 12-foot drop into a crater and then make it up a very steep crater wall.

NASA Ames Education staff provided Mars and Astrobiology education handouts and helped judge participants. Chris McKay presented and answered questions. 623 youth attended as part of over 150 teams. 320 youth were high school students and 303 were middle school students. 37% of participants were girls, and several all-girl teams placed for awards.
