NASA Administrator Message: NASA@Work – As Only NASA Can
The NASA family is pulling together to help the country respond to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
As NASA teams worked on several national and local response efforts, leadership called on the entire workforce for additional ideas of how the agency’s capabilities can help with the national COVID-19 response. In just two weeks, we received over 250 ideas via our internal crowdsourcing platform NASA@WORK – about five times the average number of responses we’ve seen for other NASA@WORK challenges.
Thank you to everyone who offered ideas as well as those who logged in to view, comment and vote on the submissions. More than 500 comments and over 4,500 votes were cast, demonstrating the widespread interest in collaboration the NASA community has to contribute to ideas.
The quick and thoughtful response of NASA people shows the passion and drive we have to contribute to this national crisis in a few topic areas of known near term need. We received several ideas that aligned with our existing efforts and others that could be considered at a local level.
Right now, subject matter expert review teams are evaluating the ideas to identify and recommend a select few that could be pursued on a national level at this time, considering other efforts already underway. The senior leadership team, in coordination with FEMA and HHS, will determine a path forward for those ideas. While not every idea will come to fruition, the response of the NASA community promises a team ready to start implementing those that do.
Ad astra,
Jim
