MRPO Daily Status Report 2-6-03
GMT Date: 037
Calendar Date: 02/06/03
Payloads currently on-board ISS:
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSPACE, MAMS, MSG (facility), PFMI, SAMS, STES-10,
SUBSA and ZCG.
MAMS, SAMS and STES-10 continue nominal, basically unattended, operations.
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSpace, PFMI, SUBSA and ZCG are inactive. MSG
developed problems yesterday and is in a trouble shooting mode.
EXPRESS RACKS 1 and 4 (ER1 & ER4) are powered and supporting payload
operations. ER2 & ER3 are currently powered down. ER3, and possibly
ER2, will be activated in the near future to continue with ARIS 3 checkout/calibration.
ER5 is available to support payload operations but is currently inactive.
ER1, ER3, ER4 and ER5 software upgrades have been accomplished. ER2 software
upgrade is planned for week 11.
MSG replacement parts were installed yesterday and facility power was
turned on. Shortly thereafter a circuit breaker tripped. The cause of
this problem is not yet understood and trouble-shooting activities are
InSpace Coil assemblies were inspected Friday and were confirmed to
be ready to begin test operations when it becomes feasible to install
the payload in MSG.
MAMS is operating nominally in the quasi-steady mode. HiRAP is currently
inactive. MAMS data is available on the acceleration measurement web
PFMI hardware removal from the MSG is contingent upon success of MSG
All SAMS sensors in EXPRESS RACKS are operating nominally. SAMS health
and status data was lost briefly today but the crew restored data flow
and it has been nominal since. The SAMS sensor in the MSG is currently
turned-off. SAMS data is also available on the acceleration measurement
STES-10 health and status data is nominal. STES-10 is configured with
diffusion-controlled chambers that require no crew operation activities.
Week 10 (2/3-2/9) – Planning for this week was based on approximately
24 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload operations. Progress
10 transfer operations are continuing. Additional MSG trouble-shooting
plans are being developed. PFMI and InSpace activities are being delayed
due to MSG problems.
Week 11(2/10-2/16) – Preliminary planning for this week is being
based on approximately 20 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload
operations. The crew will continue unloading Progress 10. MSG trouble-shooting
will be conducted, and if MSG becomes operational, PFMI removal and InSpace
installation/checkout may occur. ER2 software will be upgraded and the
SAMS filter is to be cleaned.
