MRPO Daily Status Report 2-28-03
GMT Date: 059
Calendar Date: 02/28/03
Increment: 6
Stage: 11A
Week 13
Payloads currently on-board ISS:
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSPACE, MAMS, MSG (facility), PFMI, SAMS, STES-10,
SUBSA and ZCG.
Status:
MAMS, SAMS and STES-10 continue nominal, basically unattended, operations.
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSpace, PFMI, SUBSA and ZCG are inactive. MSG
is in a trouble-shooting mode.
EXPRESS RACKS 1 and 4 (ER1 & ER4) are powered and supporting payload
operations. The ER1 Memory Unit was successfully returned to nominal
operations today via a ground commanded reboot of the Rack Interface
Controller (RIC). The memory unit had not been useable since November
2002, requiring the Rack Laptop Computer to serve as a back up for the
memory unit. ER2, ER3 & ER5 are currently powered down.
The MSG circuit breaker problem is continuing to be evaluated and troubleshooting
procedures will continue. Yesterday’s troubleshooting activities
accomplished by the crew included rotating the rack out, and disconnecting
13 sensor power cables. The rack was then rotated back into position,
and MSG was brought to Main Power. No circuit breaker trip occurred.
Continuing troubleshooting in the coming days will involve the reconnection
of the cables that were disconnected yesterday, following a fault tree
analysis to determine where the problem has occurred. Time is being allocated
to perform additional MSG trouble-shooting procedures during next week.
InSpace Coil assemblies have been confirmed to be ready to begin test
operations when it is feasible to install the payload in the MSG.
MAMS is operating nominally in the quasi-steady mode. HiRAP is currently
inactive. MAMS data is available on the acceleration measurement web
page.
PFMI hardware removal from the MSG is contingent upon success of MSG
trouble-shooting.
All SAMS sensors in EXPRESS RACKS were operating nominally until the
ER1 RIC reboot occurred. SAMS rack-to-rack communications and data down-link
were interrupted by the reboot procedure and a power cycle of the SAMS
equipment in ER1 will be required to resynchronize communications. Due
to an extended period of KU-band loss of signal, the SAMS power cycle
will not occur until later today. The SAMS sensor in the MSG is currently
turned-off. SAMS data is also available on the acceleration measurement
web page.
STES-10 health and status data is nominal. STES-10 is configured with
diffusion-controlled chambers that require no crew operation activities.
Near-term Outlook:
Week 13 (2/24-3/2) – Planning for this week was based on approximately
14 hours of crew time for NASA payload operations. All planned activities
for PSR/SPD payloads during this week have been accomplished.
Week 14 (3/3-3/9) – Preliminary planning for this week is being
based on approximately 7 hours of crew time for NASA payload operations.
MSG trouble-shooting will continue during this week.
