Calendar Date: 01/22/03

Increment: 6

Stage: 11A

Week 8

Payloads currently on-board ISS:
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSPACE, MAMS, MSG (facility), PFMI, SAMS, STES-10,
SUBSA and ZCG.

Status:
MRPO payloads MAMS, SAMS and STES-10 continue nominal, basically unattended,
operations. BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSpace, PFMI, SUBSA and ZCG are inactive.
MSG is inactive/failed, awaiting replacement parts. MSG replacement
parts have been manifested on Progress 10, currently scheduled for
launch on February 2nd. A plan has been developed to maximize payload
operations after MSG operational capability is restored.

EXPRESS RACKS 1, 2 and 4 (ER1, ER2 & ER4) are powered and supporting
payload operations. ER3 and ER5 are available to support payload operations
but are currently inactive. ER5 software was upgraded last week and ER1
software was upgraded yesterday. Software upgrades will be incrementally
accomplished on the other EXPRESS RACKS during the next two weeks.

The crew inspected the InSpace coil assemblies yesterday to determine
if there are any quality problems that might affect planning MSG operations.
One coil assembly was broken and the fluid had evaporated. The other
five coil assemblies were intact and the particles were well dispersed
after being shaken. This status information provides a sound basis for
developing detailed MSG operation plans that will include InSpace operations.

MAMS is operating nominally in the quasi-steady mode. HiRAP is currently
inactive. MAMS data is available on the acceleration measurement web
page.

All SAMS sensors in EXPRESS Racks are operating nominally. The SAMS
sensor in the MSG is currently turned-off. SAMS data is also being posted
to the acceleration measurement web page.

STES-10 health and status data is nominal. STES-10 is configured with
diffusion-controlled chambers that require no crew operation activities.

ZCG completed a nominal 15 day furnace operation Saturday, 1/18. The
samples were removed from the furnace and stowed Monday. This completes
ZCG operations for this increment.

Near-term Outlook:

Week 8 (1/20-1/26) – Planning for this week was based on approximately
19 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload operations. The crew
will participate in four Public Affairs Office activities. ER4 software
will be upgraded this week.

Week 9 (1/27-2/2) – Preliminary planning for this week is being based
on approximately 12 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload
operations. ER3 software will be upgraded and ARIS 3 check-out is scheduled.
