MRPO Daily Status Report 1-16-03
GMT Date: 016
Calendar Date: 01/16/03
Payloads currently on-board ISS:
BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSPACE, MAMS, MSG (facility), PFMI, SAMS, STES-10,
SUBSA and ZCG.
MRPO payloads MAMS, SAMS, STES-10 and ZCG continue nominal, basically unattended,
operations. BSTC, CGBA, CSLM-2, InSpace, PFMI, and SUBSA are inactive. MSG
is inactive/failed, awaiting replacement parts. The first opportunity for
replacements parts to be launched to the ISS will be on Progress 10, tentatively
scheduled for February 2nd. Plans are being developed to maximize payload
operations after MSG operational capability is restored.
EXPRESS RACKS 1, 2 and 4 (ER1, ER2 & ER4) are powered and supporting
payload operations. ER3 and ER5 are available to support payload operations
but are currently inactive. ER5 software is scheduled to be upgraded
Friday, 1/17. Software upgrades will be incrementally accomplished on
the other EXPRESS RACKS during the next two weeks.
MAMS is operating nominally in the quasi-steady mode. HiRAP is currently
inactive. MAMS data is available on the acceleration measurement web
All SAMS sensors in EXPRESS Racks are operating nominally. The SAMS
sensor in the MSG is currently turned-off. SAMS data is also being posted
to the acceleration measurement web page.
STES-10 health and status data is nominal. STES-10 is configured with
diffusion-controlled chambers which require no crew operation activities.
ZCG furnace operations are continuing nominally and are scheduled to
continue until Saturday, 1/18. The ZCG samples are to be removed from
the furnace and stowed Monday, 1/20.
Week 7 (1/13-1/19) – Planning for this week was based on approximately
7 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload operations. The crew
is performing post EVA activities after yesterdays successful space walk.
ER5 software will be upgraded tomorrow. ZCG furnace power will be turned
off Saturday, 1/18.
Week 8 (1/20-1/26) – Preliminary planning for this week is being based
on approximately 19 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload
operations. The ZCG control system will be powered down on 1/20 and the
processed samples will be removed and stowed. The crew will inspect the
InSpace coil assemblies to determine if there are any quality problems
due to the delay of MSG operations. ER1 & ER4 software will be upgraded
during this week.
