Media Invited to High-Energy Astrophysics Meeting, Apr. 7-11

The 2013 meeting for the High Energy Astrophysics Division (HEAD) of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) will be held in Monterey, Calif., at the Portola Hotel from Sunday, April 7, through Thursday, April 11.

This year’s conference will feature results from missions in space such as NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory, Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, and Swift, as well as from ground-based facilities including HESS, VERITAS, and others.

There will be a special session on public policy for high-energy astrophysics, focusing on future international cooperation on missions. This will feature talks by senior personnel from NASA, ESA, and JAXA.

Also, the HEAD Dissertation Prize and David N. Schramm Award for High Energy Astrophysics Journalism will be presented during the meeting.
