Media Advisory: Launch Exercises for Astronaut Julie Payette on NASA TV
CSA Astronaut Julie Payette and the crew of mission STS-127 will be at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida for the standard Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) as of May 31, 2009.
This test is held at KSC prior to each Space Shuttle flight, providing the crew an opportunity to participate in simulated countdown activities, and ends with a mock launch countdown, culminating in a simulated main engine cut-off. The crew also spends time undergoing emergency egress training exercises at the pad and has an opportunity to view and inspect the payloads in the shuttle’s payload bay.
The following simulated activities will be broadcast LIVE on NASA TV.
– June 2 at 3:00 p.m. EDT: The crew will arrive at the Shuttle Landing Facility and make a statement.
– June 3 at 9:20 a.m. EDT: STS-127 crew will take media questions from media present at KSC Launch Pad 39A.
