MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (“MDA” or the “Company”) (TSX:MDA), a global communications and information company, today announced that it has been awarded multiple contracts by undisclosed customers for space-based monitoring services using RADARSAT-2 to support oil exploration and production activities.

MDA’s wide-area monitoring solutions for the oil industry are used to detect and track the movement of oil on water through all weather conditions, 24 hours a day. The level of accuracy and timeliness provided by the RADARSAT-2 satellite supports exploration for new offshore wells, increases operational awareness for off-shore production facilities, and enables more effective response operations in the event of an oil spill.
