  • Launch / Days since Launch = Nov. 7, 1996 / 2114 days
  • Start of Mapping / Days since Start of Mapping = April 1, 1999 / 1239 days
  • Total Mapping Orbits = 15,436
  • Total Orbits = 17,119

Recent Events:

Background Sequences – The spacecraft is operating nominally in performing the beta-supplement daily recording and transmission of science data. The mm201 sequence executed successfully from 02-226 (8/14/02) through 02-231 (8/19/02). The mm202 sequence has performed well since it started on 02-232 (8/20/02). It terminates on 02-234 (8/22/02). The mm203 sequence, successfully uplinked on 02-232 (8/20/02), begins executing near the end of day on 02-233 (8/21/02).

Other – The Command Loss Timer (CLT) was reset to 104 hours on 02-228 (8/16/02).

The mz193 Flexible Modes Test was performed early on 02-231 (8/19/02) to characterize the dynamics of the solar arrays and HGA gimbal. All recorded test has been played back and is in the process of being analyzed by AACS engineers.

The MOC was successfully turned-on and its replacement heater turned-off on 02-231 (8/19/02). The MOC was turned off for solar conjunction so no Roll Only Targeted Observations (ROTOs) were performed. MGS has completed 285 ROTOs to date. ROTOs resume on 02-234 (8/22/02).

Spacecraft Health:

Spacecraft subsystems report good health and status.

Uplinks:

There have been 29 uplinks to the spacecraft during the past week, including new star catalogs and ephemeris files, CLT reset commands, MOC commands, instrument command loads, the mz193 flex modes mini-sequence, the mz194 ROTO mini-sequence, and the mm202 and mm203 background sequences. 6,959 command files have been radiated to the spacecraft since launch.

Upcoming Events:

ROTOs are planned for next week in the mz194 and mz195 mini-sequences.
