Mars Global Surveyor Status Report 14 Aug 2002
Wednesday, August 14, 2002 (DOY 219/19:00:00 to DOY 226/19:00:00 UTC)
- Launch / Days since Launch = Nov. 7, 1996 / 2107 days
- Start of Mapping / Days since Start of Mapping = April 1, 1999 / 1232 days
- Total Mapping Orbits = 15,351
- Total Orbits = 17,034
Recent Events:
Background Sequences – The spacecraft is operating nominally in performing the beta-supplement daily recording and transmission of science data. The mm200 sequence has performed well since it started on 02-216 (8/02/02). It terminates on 02-226 (8/14/02). The mm201 sequence, successfully uplinked on 02-214 (8/02/02), begins executing near the end of day on 02-226 (8/14/02). It covers through the end of solar conjunction.
Other – The MOC has been turned off for solar conjunction so no Roll Only Targeted Observations (ROTOs) were performed. MGS has completed 285 ROTOs to date.
Spacecraft Health:
Spacecraft subsystems report good health and status.
Uplinks:
There have been no uplinks to the spacecraft during the past week due to the solar conjunction command moratorium. 6,930 command files have been radiated to the spacecraft since launch.
Upcoming Events:
The CLT will be reset to 104 hours on 02-228 (8/16/02). The mm202 background sequence will be uplinked on 02-229 (8/17/02). The mz193 Flexible Modes Test mini-sequence will be uplinked that same day. The test itself will be performed early on 02-231 (8/19/02) to characterize the dynamics of the solar arrays and HGA gimbal. The MOC will be turned on later that day, 02-231 (8/19/02). The mz203 background sequence will be uplinked on 02-232 (8/20/02).
