Background information on the transmission:

Replay 2: 8 January 16:00-16:15 GMT

ESA TV wishes everybody a Happy and Successful New Year! Our transmissions are back earlier than originally envisaged, due to an unscheduled event:

The online edition of Nature will publish, on 8 January 2007, a major scientific achievement in astronomy, in which European astronomers have participated, using a space telescope with ESA participation.

More details will be posted on the ESA TV Website and on the ESA Web Portal after the expiry of the embargo, Sunday night.

This Exchange provides all images, including newly produced 3-D animations, to cover this story in a news programme.

The script will be online as a PDF file under http://television.esa.int/photos/EbS50295.pdf as of Sunday 7 January, 18:00 GMT.

At the same time, links to a WMV preview clip will be online, plus to a broadcast quality Mpeg-2 file of this Exchange (approx 1 GB).

For the details of the links, please consult the ESA TV Website, as of Sunday evening.

This ESA TV Exchanges feed is transmitted by the European Commission’s “Europe by Satellite” (EbS) service. You can find the complete transmission schedule and download scripts and shot lists, also for ESA TV items, from the EbS Web site at http://europa.eu.int/comm/ebs/schedule.cfm
