Subject: New Duty Assignments
As a result of the numerous activities associated with Return to Flight, I
have asked Bill Higgins to accept a new position as the Safety and Mission
Assurance Advisor to the Director of Shuttle Processing. In this new
role, he will be responsible for ensuring that all actions implemented by
Shuttle Processing as a result of the Columbia accident meet or exceed all
Agency standards for Safety and Mission Assurance. He will also continue
to act as alternate to the Space Flight Operations Contract Technical
Manager’s Representative for Safety and Mission Assurance. As the senior
S&MA professional in Shuttle Processing, Bill will continue to provide the
technical interface with the Safety, Health and Independent Assessment
organization. Steve Minute has agreed to permanently fill the role of
Division Chief for Safety and Mission Assurance after Bill’s reassignment.
Please give Bill and Steve your full support as they take on these new
roles effective June 29.
