The launch of
NASA’s Genesis
spacecraft aboard a
Delta II rocket has
been postponed at
least 24 hours.

The spacecraft
contains a power
supply component in
the star tracker unit
which is similar to a
component that
recently failed during
a simulated space
environment test not
related to the
Genesis mission. NASA and the Genesis project decided
late this afternoon that additional time was needed to
further evaluate the available data to assure that there
will be no effect on the Genesis mission.

Pending review of the data, the launch of the
Genesis spacecraft has been rescheduled for no earlier
than Tuesday, July 31, with the two-minute launch
window at 12:32:34 p.m. EDT. If the launch proceeds for
Tuesday, Genesis launch coverage on NASA Television
will begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
