The EMU Panel convened at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2001. Topics of discussion are as follows:

1. Flight Readiness Review

1. STS-108/UF-1 (R. McDaniel — Davis X 33787)

1. During CM Tani’s SSATA chamber run, he experienced a pressure point in his Phase




VI gloves. USA is working this issue.




2. The EMU ESEL R3 is on the EMU Panel agenda.




3. JSC MPLM Bench Review #2 is scheduled for Tuesady, September 18, 2001. A




DELTA Review will happen after the ESEL R3 is approved and released.




4. BMRRM EVA was added to STS-108/UF-1 flight.




5. The EV Crew Patch Fabrication Kit is in work for the SSA telecon and




EMUP/EEB next week.




6. DIDB Fill Ground processing FEMU-R changes are tracked in the Mission Manager




Matrix.




7. MPLM Cert EMUM needs some updates on certain items that were left out.




8. A drawing is needed for the Middeck Battery Charger.




9. UFR fit check waiver is in work for the SSA telecon and EMUP/EEB next week.




10. CoFR₁ for STS-108/UF-1 MPLM stowage is on Tuesday, October 2, 2001.

2. STS-109/HST3B (S. Anderson X 39311)

1. DIDB new hardware deliveries are beyond the L-90. It will force a miss at the Bench Review.


2. ORU certification for STS-109 may need a GCAR. This item is being tracked on the Mission Managers’ Matrix.


3. A CR is in the work for USA to modify the Croakies.

1. STS-110/8A (C. Donnellan X 35896)

1. EMU ESEL is a walk on to the EMU Panel.

2. STS-111/UF-2 (A. Veloso 281-336-6308)

1. SSA on-orbit life extension topic is moved back to the Logistic telecon.


2. CM Parrin still does not have his back up or prime gloves yet for this flight.

1. RDR/FIAR Status

1. For STS-108/UF-1, there are twenty-three (23) open RDRs.


2. For STS-109/HST3B, there is one (1) open RDR.


3. For STS-110/8A, there are two (2) open RDRs.

1. There are six (6) open certification items for STS-108/UF-1.


2. There are six (6) open certification items for STS-109/HST3B.


3. There are seven (7) open certification items for STS-110/8A.

• 01-2.2.3C-309 — EVA Crewmember Eye Irritation Study — Approved with changes.


• 01-2.2.5D-304 — EMU PR 420 Primer Replacement — Deferred.


• H7120 — EMU SSA Enhanced Small Boot Toe Spacer Certification and Implementation — Approved with changes. Return to the EMU Panel.


• H7168 — FEMU-R-001 Addition of Criterion for Acceptance of Harness Connectors with 25% Broken Ground Fingers — Deferred.


• H7138FR2 — Middeck EMU Battery Charger, ISS Certification and Production of Additional Flight Unit to Support STS-109/HST3B — Approved.
