Global Science & Technology, Inc (GST) a growing high technology company is looking for an experienced Space Biology Scientist for our NASA’s Life and Physical Sciences project. This full-time position will be located at NASA Headquarters, Washington DC.

Position Summary: Serve as a scientist supporting NASA’s Space Biology Program (http://www.nasa.gov/directorates/heo/slpsra/index.html) on GST’s Solicited Research and Education Support Services (SRESS) contract. Assist NASA’s Space Biology Program Executive in activities related to program development and execution

Primary Duties:

– Analyze NASA Space Biology research task program content, and support understanding of National Academy of Sciences Decadal Survey recommendations to match current tasks to recommendations, and identify research program gaps where research needs to be solicited.

– Prepare results of research content analyses using excel spread sheets and power point slides for the Space Biology Program Executive and HEOMD Management.

– Support logistics of preparing Space Biology Solicitations selection recommendations (i.e., preparation of draft summary charts and presentations, organizing draft responses to management questions about peer review process, schedules, results, etc. in this area)

– Assist the Space Biology Program Executive in planning research acquisition strategy for ISS Space Biology/Life Science Research Campaigns such as geneLAB, Microbial Observatory and others.

– Assist the Space Biology Program Executive in defining and organizing investigator workshops for research planning purposes (i.e., defining areas of emphasis for preparing solicitations) or reporting/summarizing research results funded by NASA.

– Represent Space Biology Program Executive and staff at science planning meetings as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

– 1-5 years experience in NASA life sciences related disciplines. Advanced education can be substituted for experience.

– Knowledge of NASA life sciences programs a plus.

– Analytic abilities for program analyses

– Facility with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications

– Good communication skills

Education: – MS/MA degree in Biological Sciences. PhD preferred.
