Last 24 Hours Status
- EVA crew reported that an ECOMM connector _ turn fastener came apart and part of the fastener may be in the STBD CBM vestibule area. The CBM petals were opened and the crew looked into the vestibule area and could not locate the missing parts. Additional attempts to recover the missing parts were discontinued by the EVA crew. MER is currently working additional troubleshooting plans.
- C&C-1 MDM failed to Diagnostic state shortly after FCT performed a HDRL recovery command. Sequence of Events – MSD indicated failed, followed by HDRL fail. During recovery, C&C-1 Failed (currently in Diagnostics). C&C-2 MDM went to Primary, however this was not confirmed until about 30 minutes later due to inability to configure to OIU and the fact that C&C-2 came up looking for the TDRS-W satellite that would not come into view for 19 minutes. FCT performed reconfig procedures on C&C-2. MER C&DH ran test of command sequence in ISIL and could not duplicate failure resulting from command sequence. MER has requested dumps from C&C-1. MER C&DH will analyze data when available. No action to recover C&C-1 until after data is received. Data dump will continue when C&C 3 is on line. (See next problem)
- During the C&C 2 set up process, the C&C 2 had a HRDL inaccessible error and a MSD inaccessible error message. Flight Controllers attempted to reset the HRDL and after several attempts with no joy, MER gave the go to transition to C&C 3. Words from MDM experts, problems with C&C 2 MSD were seen during testing at KSC. Believe C&C 2 problems may be limited to that MDM. Operating off of C&C 2 with no MSD results in loss of ZOE recorder which impacts SSRMS operations. Due to the time it takes to transition (2 hrs ) the activities for today have been moved around in the timeline. Powered payload transfers have been moved ahead of SSRMS/SRMS handover. C&C 2 could be used but would have degraded performance.
- During the C&C 3 transition, received MSD inaccessability and No Op. MER C&DH is still looking at cause of C&C 3 problems. Looking hard at the PL MDM as a possible cause.
- The KuBand ART has provided a new lower operating limit for the gimbal. The new limit is 7ºC with the new hard limit on the hardware of 9.4ºC. The FCT has been requested to park the KuBand Antenna when it reaches 7ºC.
- The SLP was successfully removed from the LCA by the SSRMS yesterday. The SSRMS was placed in an overnight park position waiting to handover the SLP to the Shuttle RMS today. (Or FD8 if C&C MDM MSD recovery is not successful)
- During Flight EVA #2, the Video Signal Converter (VSC) could not be removed from Space Lab Pallet (SLP) after unbolting and applying forces via EVA. EVA turned bolt 26 full turns; expected 10 required for release. EVA reported bolt appeared to snap back in. VSC had been shaded for some time prior to attempted removal. The VSC will be returned on the SLP.
