Integral Launch Coverage

There are just 48 hours to go until the launch of the world’s most sensitive gamma-ray observatory. ESA’s new spacecraft Integral will be launched on board a Russian Proton launcher from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on the 17 October at 04:41 GMT.

The ESA TV Service provides pre-launch images and a live transmission of the launch as follows:

1) Integral pre-launch footage

16 October 2002

13:30-13:45

Integral Video News Release and a B-roll comprising of the latest pre-launch images from Baikonur including launcher roll-out and erection.

2) Integral last launch preparations

17 October 2002

04:00-04:15 GMT

Replay of the B-roll footage transmitted with the VNR on the 16 October, plus new footage received from Baikonur the night before the launch.

3) Integral live launch transmission

17 October 2002

04:15-06:30 GMT

Live transmission of the Integral launch from Baikonur in Kazachstan. The programme is produced at ESA’s Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, using a feed from Baikonur and images from a multi-camera event plus from the Operations Control Centre.

The programme for the Integral live transmission on 17 October 2002 will be as follows:

04:00-04:15 GMT Announcement slate – pre launch B-roll

04:15-05:00 GMT Live transmission 1st part (04:41 Scheduled lift-off)

06:00-06:30 GMT Live transmission 2nd part (08:13 Scheduled spacecraft separation)

The live transmission can also be followed as streaming video under http://www.esa.int/integrallaunch

The satellite parameters for ALL the transmissions are as follows:

Eutelsat W1 at 10 degrees East

Tx B5, horizontal, MPEG-2, SCPC (8 MBit/sec)

F=11.144 Mhz, SR=5.632 MS/s, FEC=3/4
