Description

This notice is issued by the NASA/LaRC to post a draft Statement of Work via the internet, and solicit responses from interested parties. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition. Prospective offerors are invited to submit written comments or questions to: ceseley.dunbar@nasa.gov, no later than January 6, 2010.

Please review the SOW and comment on what requirements are going to pose the technical challenges and consequently drive the risk and/or cost of each component. We are particularly interested in the following sections of the SOW:

* Structural design concept to achieve geometry in section 3.2.1,
* Structural stiffness in section 3.2.2, * Leak rate in section 3.2.4,
* Structural attachment to the centerbody in section 3.2.11,
* Multiple layered flexible Thermal Protection System in section 3.3.1,
* TPS attachment to the structure (section 3.3.3) and nose (section 3.3.6)

We are interested in the areas where you feel you can easily satisfy a requirement, and if you have suggestions for what a more challenging, but not significantly risky, value would be. Are there target values in the SOW that you feel are unattainable?

This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information submitted in response. Respondents will not be notified of the results.

An ombudsman has been appointed — See NASA Specific Note “B”.

The statement of work will be available over the Internet. It will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
