100/Halem

  • Al Diaz is at HQ meeting with Y/Asrar and S/Weiler.  He will travel to APL this afternoon for NEAR End-of-Mission event.
  • Bill Townsend and Mary Kicza are at HQ attending SWIFT Confirmation Review.
  • Wayne Boswell is preparing a list of actions from the Executive Council retreat.

  • The Von Braun Lecture is scheduled for 6/6/01 at the National Air and Space Museum.
  • Of the top 40 NASA news website stories, 25 percent of the stories were generated by GSFC.
  • Engineers Week is approaching.  Will visit over 82 schools.
  • Maryland Science Center will host Shuttle crew event this week.

  • Will travel to JPL with Jim Jackson to discuss potential collaborations.
  • Black History Month Speaker, Cassie Alphonso, is scheduled for 2/15/01 in the Building 3 Auditorium.

  • Delivery of second and third laser delivery for GLAS.

  • POP guidelines are in.  They will be posted on Code 150 FTP site.

  • DNV ISO audit begins today. Will be at WFF today and Greenbelt the next 3 days.
  • Meetings were held at HQ regarding the program review process.
  • Attended Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel debrief with Mr. Goldin.  Will send out recommendations and actions for GSFC.

  • The OIG has announced a new audit of NASA waste reduction activities to determine whether NASA is adequately complying with EO13101.  Fieldwork will be
    conducted at NASA HQ, KSC, MSFC, and WFF.
  • GSFC is in violation of our Title V permit under the Clean Air Act.  We will self-disclose to EPA and the state.  Are working this with Legal.
  • Have issued an announcement on our new communication services.
  • Briefed HQ/J/Sutton on the status of the CI Travel Services contract.  Metrics indicate improvement, although some concerns remain and are being worked.
  • Ed Oliver is Acting Division Chief of the Logistics Management Division while Marilyn Tolliver is on leave.
  • GSFC’s 28th Annual Small Business Conference is scheduled fro 5/24/01.
  • The library is planning a 40th anniversary celebration on 5/2/01.
  • GAO notified NASA on 2/5/01 that they are initiating a review of USDA’s Graduate School at the request of the Chairman, Investigations and Oversight, House
    Committee on Agriculture.  GSFC will be involved with this review.
