The CME from the filament eruption observed on August 15th is expected to arrive on August 19th with effects rolling into the early hours of August 20th Universal Time (Late evening 19 Aug in the US).

The resulting geomagnetic storms are expected to persist for 18-24 hours with a peak of G1-Minor activity possible. A G1 Watch was issued accordingly. As noted on NOAA’s Space Weather Scales, this level of activity is fairly common throughout the 11 yr solar cycle. Aurora watchers could have some luck as far south as northern Maine and Michigan if skies are clear.
