Falling to Earth 700 km intact-the miracle of MAXUS 4 samples
ESA TV Exchanges
Background information on the transmission:
This ESA TV Exchanges feed is transmitted by the European Commission’s “Europe by Satellite” (EbS) service. You can find the complete transmission schedule and download scripts and shot lists, also for ESA TV items, from the EbS Web site at http://europa..eu.int/comm/ebs/index.html
On 22 April 2001, the 4th Maxus sounding rocket was launched from the ESRANGE range in Northern Sweden. Maxus is Europe’s biggest sounding rocket, providing experiments with more than 12 minutes of microgravity.
Today’s transmission is the second and last ESA TV Exchange on this mission, outlining the preparation of one of the seven experiments on board. It also includes an account of the miraculous survival of the payloads when they fell at 300 km/h to Earth after the payload retrieval mechanism had failed.
The 5-minute A-roll contains split audio with an English guide track and is complemented by a B-roll. The script of the programme is posted on line under http://television.esa.int/photos/EbS22830.pdf
The A-roll can be watched as a real Video Stream under http://esa.capcave.com:8080/ramgen/maxus4_2_26112001_low.rm
