Expedition 7 Concludes Week of Science, Preps for Next Crew
The Expedition 7 crew is now in its final month aboard the International Space Station, and throughout the workweek, it prepared for the arrival of its replacement crew and worked with ISS science operations.
NASA ISS Science Officer Ed Lu set up a protein crystal growth experiment in the Microgravity Science Glovebox. European Space Agency Astronaut Pedro Duque will conduct this experiment after he arrives at the Station with the Expedition 8 crew Oct. 20. Lu also configured computers for use by Expedition 8 Commander and NASA ISS Science Officer Michael Foale and Flight Engineer Alexander Kaleri.
Lu set up the In Space Soldering Investigation, which is studying how to improve solder connections made in space. Expedition 7 Commander Yuri Malenchenko worked with several experiments in the Station’s Russian segment.
Expedition 7 and Duque are slated to leave the Station on Oct. 27
