Background information on the transmission:

This ESA TV Exchanges feed is transmitted by the European Commission’s “Europe by Satellite” (EbS) service. You can find the complete transmission schedule and download scripts and shot lists, also for ESA TV items, from the EbS Web site at http://europa..eu.int/comm/ebs/index.html

This and next week, the ESA TV Service transmits two Exchanges, one on space astronomy and the second on missions exploring the Sun and the solar system.

Astronomy with orbiting telescopes has established itself as an indispensable branch of miodern astronomy. European missions have contributed to fascinating discoveries and enabled scientists to look deep into space and back to the very origin of the Universe. This Exchanges programme focuses on the ESA/NASA Hubble Space Telescope, the XMM/Newton Observatory as well as the fascinating observatories ESA is currently developing
