Discussion of ESMOS Top Ten Issues

K. Dolan discussed the top ten issues.

#1 — FY03 budget – SOMO backing out of funding networks, institutional support and technology programs: Budget presentations have been made to Code 420 and Code 400; next presentation is to NASA Headquarters. ERBS is not part of the current budget.

#2 — Getting a contract in place to provide anomaly support from LMMS, SBRS, and L3COM: Gave up on a separate L3COM contract; will be part of POES contract. There is still an issue with Santa Barbara.

#3 — NISN/Code M line cost threat: Jeff has put together a plan for network support outside of CSOC.

#4 — End of Mission planning for ERBS and UARS: Meetings on ERBS were held with Phil Sabelhaus and Bill Townsend; setting up a meeting at NASA Headquarters.

#5 — USGS has not provided money to cover FY02 Landsat-7 network costs. NASA has not budgeted for this cost: Closer to resolving; there were procedural problems related to using the funds.

#6 — Problem reprocessing ASTER data: A direct downlink was requested to Vietnam.

#7 — System vulnerabilities: Paul is meeting on this issue.

#8 — Space in Building 3/14 for EDOS development facilities: This is a new item but Alan stated that it may not need to be on this list.

#9 — Aqua Transition: Plan is due in a few days.

#10 — DSMC transition: NCC and WOTIS operations are moving to WSC during 2002: A White Sands/WOTIS interface test was successful; still need to run an end-to-end test which will not be scheduled until after Aqua launch.

#11 — NACs: Getting in good condition; there are still a couple who will need escorts for Aqua launch support.

#12 — Readiness of Ground Network to support Aqua: Presentations to Center management is completed. This item is closed.
