ESMOS STATUS MEETING MINUTES



The ESMOS Status Meeting was conducted by P. Ondrus at 1:00 PM May 21, 2002. The meeting was held in Room N202 in Building 32.

General Comments and Related Discussion:


Current plans are to return Aqua to fine point mode this afternoon; the star tracker patch is ready. The Project is trying to analyze the cause of Sunday’s problem.

GSFC Internet access will be limited to onsite personnel. Fiber optic connections are available along Greenbelt Road for contractor personnel.

One of two ERBS AP units is down; Alan is working the issue.

Discussion of ESMOS Top Ten Issues


#1 — FY03 budget —SOMO backing out of funding networks, institutional support and technology programs. Revamp programs. Cover increased security costs: There is an all day budget presentation at NASA Headquarters on May 23rd.

#2 — Getting a contract in place to provide anomaly support from LMMS, SBRS, and L3COM: Lockheed has updated the statement of work. A message was sent to Santa Barbara.

#3 —NISN/Code M line cost threat: Code M funding will be used.

#4 — End of Mission planning for ERBS and UARS: There is a meeting this afternoon on ERBS.

#5 — Problem reprocessing ASTER data: Finishing up the report; Ken will review.



“G03E#6 — System vulnerabilities: Paul will meet with Elaine Shell.

#7 — Space in Building 3/14 for EDOS development facility: There was a disk failure during equipment removal. The disk needs to be restored.

#8 — Aqua Transition: Weekly meetings are starting next Tuesday at 3:00 PM.

#9 — DSMC transition NCC and WOTIS operations are moving to WSC during 2002: No new status.

#10 — USGS has not provided money to cover FY02 Landsat-7 network costs. NASA has not budgeted for this cost: No updates.

Aqua ended up in survival mode after the events of Sunday. Onboard fault management worked as designed. Power sensitivity at exit from eclipse is the suspected cause of the problem.

AMSR-E should be back up tomorrow.

The next Aqua burn is a week away.

We need to check to see who updates the Web Page; it was not updated after the Aqua anomaly.

Terra is performing well. The two dumps per orbit test will be delayed until after the shuttle mission.

An IP video demonstration is in progress if anyone wants to attend.

EDOS Ops is nominal.

There have been a few issues with schedules from MMS. They have been resolved with an EDOS software patch.

We are working on EDOS Release 4.3.
