ESMOS STATUS MEETING MINUTES

The ESMOS Status Meeting was conducted by P. Ondrus at 1:00 PM March 19, 2002. The meeting was held in Room N202 in Building 32.

General Comments and Related Discussion:

There was no Code 420 staff meeting today.

Terra is currently in safe mode.

Meetings are being held on end of mission planning for ERBS and UARS.

Discussion of ESMOS Top Ten Issues

The Mission System top ten issues were discussed by K. Dolan.

#1 — FY02 budget — The PSLAs are in but there are conflicts that will be worked offline.

#2 — System vulnerabilities: This item can be lowered on the top ten list.

#3 — Readiness of Ground Network to support Aqua: The third test was completed. One more test is scheduled during the shuttle mission. Approximately 95% to 97% of the data has been collected during the GN tests.

#4 — NACs: There are still one or two that need to be completed plus some from TRW.

#5 — Getting a contract in place to provide anomaly support from LMMS, SBRS, and L3COM: Subcontractors didn’t provide enough information to complete the contract.

#6 — End of Mission planning for ERBS and UARS: Meeting with Space Command representative today. We need to consider the possibility of a collision during reentry. Procedures for an emergency maneuver are required.

#7 — NCR: Signed off on CCRs. We need to determine the next step.

#8 — USGS has not provided money to cover FY02 Landsat-7 network costs. NASA has not budgeted for this cost: Paperwork being prepared but not yet received.

#9 — DSMC transition NCC and WOTIS operations are moving to WSC during 2002: No change in status. No firm dates set for transition.

#10 — Aqua Transition: No updates; final transition plans is not due yet.

Comments by K. Dolan and Related Discussion:

Meetings have been added to the web site calendar and were reviewed. Also events such as spacecraft yaw maneuvers are included on the calendar.

Comments by Rich Lonigro and Related Discussion:

There is a 38 second delta V maneuver for Landsat this afternoon.

We cannot use SKS for collecting Landsat scenes since they don’t have Ampex recorders to use. Paul stated that there is an action to work with the network on this issue.

Comments by C. Sigman and Related Discussion:

A lot of computers have been compromised within NASA (typically Sun workstations); actions are being taken to correct this situation. Look for unusual core dumps to appear.

Comments by B. Guit and Related Discussion:

Running acceptance tests on the UARS re-engineering system.

Comments by B. Kozon and Related Discussion:

The Terra burn was successful but the switch back to normal mode was made too soon so spacecraft went into safe hold; it should be recovering soon.

Comments by H. Wong and Related Discussion:

Aqua launch is still officially April 18th.

There is a battery cell test today.

The Launch Readiness working group meeting is at 2:00 PM today.

The solar array issue will be addressed on March 20th.

The Delta MRR will be in two parts. The first part is on March 20th on the MECO issue. The second part is March 27th in the Building 8 MCC on the remaining outstanding MRR issues.

Comments by E. Corderman and Related Discussion:

The EPM to FPM transition may require a new software solution.

The Aqua FDS security scan was March 15th.

Comments by M. Hayes and Related Discussion:

I will now be addressing quality issues.

Comments by A. Jansen and Related Discussion:

Aqua Mission Rehearsal X is this week (Wednesday and Thursday); Mission Rehearsal 4 is next week (Monday through Thursday).

A fault management meeting has been scheduled with TRW for March 29th.
