ESMOS STATUS MEETING MINUTES

The ESMOS Status Meeting was conducted by A. Johns at 1:00 PM April 16, 2002. The meeting was held in Room N202 in Building 32.

General Comments and Related Discussion:

The new Aqua launch date, after the third launch readiness review, is now May 2nd dependent on Vandenberg activities (there is a conflict with Department of Defense).

Alan provided a GN status briefing on Monday to Center management and another is scheduled for Friday. SKS appears to have the low rate data problems resolved but Center management wants another test. May require a subsequent test if they are still not satisfied.

Budget issues are still being worked. There is a meeting with Code 420 on Thursday and with Code 400 on Monday. There is a $2 million challenge that needs to be reflected in the budget.

Discussion of ESMOS Top Ten Issues

The Mission System top ten issues were discussed by A. Johns.

#1 — FY03 budget – SOMO backing out of funding networks, institutional support and technology programs: See status above.

#2 — Readiness of Ground Network to support Aqua: See status above.

#3 — Getting a contract in place to provide anomaly support from LMMS, SBRS, and L3COM: The L3COM subcontract is planned to go on the POES contract. Still working on the Santa Barbara contract.

#4 — End of Mission planning for ERBS and UARS: Vickie Moran is working on the ERBS presentation; there appears to be a conflict between what Center management and Headquarters want presented. Termination paperwork on the missions will be needed by CSOC.

#5 — USGS has not provided money to cover FY02 Landsat-7 network costs. NASA has not budgeted for this cost: No additional updates.

#6 — Problem reprocessing ASTER data: (This item will be reworded). Waiting for a response from ASTER on our correspondence to them.

#7 — DSMC transition: NCC and WOTIS operations are moving to WSC during 2002: Lots of meetings were held last week. Things appear to be in good shape with NCC; need more testing with WOTIS. The planned transition date for WOTIS is July 1st.

#8 — System vulnerabilities: No additional updates.

#9 — NACs: One pending was cleared up. We appear to be good for launch. There are still three outstanding for the control center personnel who will need escorts. Alan will send an email to Code 450 requesting that CSOC provide the current security status of all their personnel who are involved with Aqua launch support.

#10 — Aqua Transition: The transition plan will be ready by launch.

Comments by G. Knoble and Related Discussion:

EOC web cam can be hooked to a laptop; will contact the network for a connection. Alexander has approved. It will be video only. (Subsequent to the meeting, it was determined that arrangements have been made to hook PAO into the voice loop.)

Comments by R. Casey and Related Discussion:

Aqua launch pad rehearsal #1 is scheduled for April 21st. Launch pad rehearsal #2 is scheduled for April 26th and as soon as it is completed Mission Rehearsal #5 will start.

Comments by L. Kurzmiller and Related Discussion:

There is a TRMM Delta-V maneuver today and yaw maneuver #71 to -X forward is scheduled for tomorrow. The latest estimated fuel remaining is 245 Kg as of the maneuver on April 12th.

Comments by J. Wallace and Related Discussion:

The East entrance doors of Building 32 are now closed for construction. One side door is available for emergency exit. It was suggested at this meeting that a sign should be posted to identify this door.

Comments by D. Lorenz and Related Discussion:

The UARS yaw maneuver on Saturday using the new Eclipse system went well; there were only a few small hitches.

Comments by E. Corderman and Related Discussion:

FDS Release G4 needs a few more changes; a waiver was prepared.

Comments by A. Kelly and Related Discussion:

The Aura meeting in the Netherlands went well.

A cost estimate is needed for splitting the OMI RBD data to servers at GSFC and the Netherlands.

The ETSF change for Aura cannot be made before Aqua launch plus 30 days as a minimum. Angie will work with the FOT to determine a good installation date.

Comments by B. Seaton and Related Discussion:

Met with NPP; they want to reduce RBD latency for Terra MODIS data.

Karen Michael reported problems with the GSFC DAAC; it appears to be a server problem.

Room S-9 may not have space for all the EDOS SEF equipment; Paul Ondrus would like to use space in Building 3/14.

Some launch support badges are still needed.

Comments by C. Gomez and Related Discussion:

EDOS is processing Terra high rate data. The line from Norway has been up and down. All high rate passes were received through AGS last night.
