ESA-TV Service — transmissions of next 24 hours 12 Feb 2001

In the next 24 hours, the ESA TV Service will cover the landing/end-of-mission of NEAR/Shoemaker on Eros, and the STS-98 mission to the International Space Station, as follows:

12 February 2001, 18:30-18:45 GMT: Near-live images from the second STS-98 space walk.

The 2nd space walk opf STS-98 is scheduled to start on 15:16 GMT and to be completed atl 21:46 GMT. In time for European prime time news, the ESA TV Service will transmit up to 15 minutes of images recorded between 15:00 and 18:00 GMT. This transmission is on:

Eutelsat W1 at 10 degrees East, transponder B5, horizontal, dig ch 1, F=11.13475 MHz, SR=5.632 MS/sec, FEC=3/4

12 February 2001, 19:30-20:30 GMT: Live descent/landing of NEAR on asteroid Eros

The ESA TV Service will rebroadcast this event live from Mission Control at JPL, from the second NEAR breaking manoeuvre scheduled at 19:31 GMT (3 kilometres above the surface) until 26 minutes after the expected touchdown (20:04 GMT) when the result of the landing should be known. This transmission is on:

NSS-K at 21.5 degrees West, transponder H07, vertical, dig ch 1 (MCPC), F=11.591 MHz, SR=20.150 MS/sec, FEC=3/4

13 February 2001, 06:00-06:20 GMT: STS-98 Flight Day 6 Highlights

The best images from this evening’s space walk will be edited into NASA-TV Flight Day 6 Highlights. available in time for breakfast news. This transmission is on:

NSS-K at 21.5 degrees West, transponder H07, vertical, dig ch 1 (MCPC), F=11.591 MHz, SR=20.150 MS/sec, FEC=3/4
