ESA TV Service – coverage of Shuttle mission 8 Feb 2001
Last night at 23:11 GMT, Space Shuttle Atlantis has lifted off in Space to deliver the Destiny laboratory to the International Space Station. The ESA TV Service will provide extensive coverage of this mission, in time for both prime time and breakfast news programmes.
Very loosely edited status reports will be transmitted several times as of 18:30 GMT, when the spectacular space walks and undocking activities are underway. NASA’s Flight Day Highlights, which are fully edited news feeds with A- and B-roll, are becoming available in the early morning, time for breakfast programmes.
The schedule of transmissions is currently as follows:
Friday 9 Feb, 19:00-19:30 GMT: docking with ISS, crew welcome, on NSS-K
Sun 11 Feb, 08:00-08:20 GMT: highlights space of walk#1, mounting of Destiny, on NSS-K
Mon 12 Feb, 06:00-06:20 GMT: inside views of Destiny, on NSS-K
Mon 12 Feb, 14:00-14:30 GMT: replay previous two highlights transmission, on Eutelsat W1
Mon 12 Feb, 18:30-18:45 GMT: status report on space walk#2, on Eutelsat W1
Tue, 13 Feb, 06:00-06:20 GMT: highlights of space walk#2, on NSS-K
Wed, 14 Feb, 18:30-18:45 GMT: status report on space walk#3, on Eutelsat W1
Thu, 15 Feb, 06:00-06:20 GMT: highlights of space walk#3, on NSS-K
Fri 16 Feb, 18:30-18:45 GMT: status report on undocking, fly-around ISS, on Eutelsat W1
Please note that two different satellites are used: NSS-K and Eutelsat W1. The transmission details will be included into the daily e-mail mailings, or can be taken from the ESA TV Service Internet pages, a few hours before the transmissions.
