ESA astronaut on the Space Station speaks to EC President and ESA Director General

On Wednesday 25 April 2001, Umberto Guidoni, the first European astronaut to have set foot on the International Space Station will be greeted by EC President Romano Prodi and ESA Director General Antonio Rodotý from Brussels. The language used will be English.
In a seven-minute audio-video link between the International Space Station and the EC’s Europe by Satellites (EbS) studios in Brussels, Mr Prodi and Mr Rodotý will talk with Umberto Guidoni about his experience during this exciting space mission. The event, scheduled to take place between 15:18 and 15:25 GMT, will be broadcast live on Europe by Satellite. The transmissions includes switched live video images of astronauts Umberto Guidoni and Kent Rominger in the Space Station, and of Romano Prodi and Antonio Rodotý in Brussels.

EC/ESA Press briefing by Commissioner Busquin and ESA DG Rodotý

The afternoon’s audio-video link between the Europe and the Space Station will be preceded by a morning press briefing by Commissioner Philippe Busquin and ESA’s Director General, Antonio Rodotý, on the joint Space Strategy for Europe and the role of Europe in the International Space Station. The briefing will take place as of 09:00 GMT in the Press Room of the EC’s Breydel Building in Brussels and will be broadcast live on Europe by Satellite.
