The next ESA TV transmission will take place on:

Tuesday 19 June

09:15-09:30

Please note the satellite parameters below.

Envisat and Waves:

Being able to accurately predict weather patterns and sea state has long been the goal for many of the world’s top scientists. With the launch of ENVISAT in the autumn it will give them a new weapon in their understanding of Mother Nature – the advanced synthetic aperture radar ASAR, one of the host of new technologies aboard the ‘state of the art’ satellite.

This transmission gives an insight into how the ASAR instrument on board Envisat can be used in wave/storm predictions and includes English soundbits by Peter Janssen Head of Optical Wave Project ECMWF. The 5 minute split track A-roll with English commentary is complemented by a longer B-roll with clean international sound.

Satellite Parameters:

EUTELSAT HOT BIRD at 13* East (DVB/MPEG-2)

Horizontal, F=12,476 MHz (MCPC, Europe by Satellite)

SR=27,500 MS/sec, FEC=3/4
