Background information on the transmission:
This programme is the 7th of the eight application stories made about ESA’s new Envisat satellite, due for launch in February.
Outlined in this programme is Envisats role in the monitoring of earthquakes. Envisat will provide an even greater capability than current earth monitoring satellites with its Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar – ASAR. With 5 different monitoring modes it has the ability to scan an area up to 400km at any given time. This, coupled with ENVISAT’s constant overpass time this means more accuracy and wider coverage.
The programme comprises of a 5 minute split track A-roll with English commentary and is complemented by a longer B-roll with clean international sound.
