EMU Panel Minutes 5 July 2000

The EMU Panel convened at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2000. Topics of discussion are as follows:

  1. Flight Readiness Review

  1. STS-106/2A.2b (S. Anderson – X39311)

    1. EMU contamination issues are being worked.

    2. SSER certification is on hold for the completion of the end-to-end testing at KSC. There is currently a two-week delay in this testing.

    3. Keep out zone (KOZ) memo is being delayed.

  1. STS-92/3A (R. McDaniel — X33787)

    1. 12 V cable certification status the certification memo is signed. One EC is pending with S&MA.

    2. In-suit Velcro engineering change (EC) status last ECs are signed off. Still waiting on the DIDB ECs.

    3. EMU GSE safety lifting strap modification to accommodate REBA pouch is being worked by USA FCE/EVA.

    4. The launch date being worked to is October 5, 2000.

    5. Chamber runs are currently TBD due to contamination issues.

    6. 12V Non-ORU acceptability for use EMUM has been sent from HSWL.

  1. STS-97/ 4A (C. Donnellan – X35896)

    1. DIDB certification test plan and all accompanying paperwork will be signed off by the end of the month.

    2. ERCA certification should be closed. Waiting for a response from Lockheed as to the actual closure.

  1. STS-98/ 5A (D. Oswald — X39330)
  2. No issues to report.

  3. STS-102/ 5A.1 (S. Anderson — X39311)

    1. Prep and post was completed with favorable results.

  1. FCE/EVA Issues

    1. Need a schedule to go along with H7059 to incorporate the IRCO2 sensor to the limited life list. Currently HSWL does not have a schedule in work. Reference action #00-24.

II. PLSS and DCM Hardware Status

Deferred.

III. RDR/FIAR Status


  1. For STS-106/2A.2b, there are twenty-three open RDRs. Two of the RDRs are being worked by USA. (B-EMU-100-A009, and B-FCE-021-A002.)

  2. For STS-92/3A, there are no open RDRs.

  3. For STS-97/4A, there are no open RDRs.


IV. Certification Status


  1. STS-106/2A.2b, there is one open certification item.

  2. For STS-92/3A, there are no open certification items.

  3. For STS-97/4A, there are five open certification items.

V. CCBDs and PPDOs

The following items were presented and directed as follows:



    • H7045 — EMU LSS SCU I-418 Condensate Water Regulator Requirement Change — Approved.

    • H7029 — EMU LSS Life Extension of the SCU I-418 SCU Condensate Water Regulator — Approved.

    • H7071 — EMU LSS Life Extension of the I-470 Airlock Adapter Plate — Approved.

VI. ACTION ITEMS

The following actions are open:




00-05 S. Cagle and M. Hembree/ At the next technical review (June/July), provide a status as to the progress of the team established to incorporate configuration control for USA FCE/EVA flight Data books. Due July 31, 2000.

00-20 D. Cox — Identify remaining components to be bar-coded. (i.e., those items not carried by an ESEL.) Due June 14, 2000. Deferred until June 28, 2000 due to time limits.

00-22 J. Ferketic — Review the CM plan regarding the YTN process versus what we are working to. Provide corrective action to improve the process. Present recommendations and findings at the LSS and SSA telecons prior to EMU Panel. Due May 31, 2000. Current process is not acceptable. Evaluate process change and return to EMU Panel. Due June 28, 2000.




No actions were closed.

Two new actions were assigned:




00-24 N. Lefferts — Provide a schedule for IRCO2 replacements. Due August 5, 2000.

00-25 S. Dionne — Present recommendation for improving the Service Instruction process to better include USA/FCE EVA. Due July 19, 2000



The next action number to be assigned is 00-26.
