Dear Colleagues (canadian and International)

The CSA has just released two new opportunities for analog studies in Canada.

The deadline for submissions is October 23, 2005. It cannot be extended due to coordination requirements with other government departments.

There are two functions to these announcements:

1. To offer a funding opportunity, through the Space Science Enhancement Program, for Canadians to access analog sites in Canada. This is open to academic institutions and non-profit research organisations.

2. For Arctic sites, to set up a mechanism to coordinate access to these sites for all users (Canadian or otherwise). So even if you are not seeking funding, we suggest that access to the sites within the network be requested through this mechanism, since CSA intends to lead the proposals to Natural Resource Canada’s Polar Continental Shelf Project for logistics support for the 2006 field season for these sites.

The first solicitation is for access to sites in the Canadian Analog Research Network (RFP-CARN05-01):

The second solicitation is for research to be carried out at analog sites in Canada but outside the Canadian Analog Research Network (RFP-CARN05-02):

This is the first step to building an international analog research network. Discussions with international partners are underway.
