CSA Media Advisory – Invitation to James Webb Space Telescope launch in Baltimore and French Guiana
The James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful space telescope ever built, is targeted to launch on December 18, 2021 from Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. Media are invited to register their interest to attend the launch at:
- Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, Webb’s launch site; and/or
- The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, Webb’s mission operations site.

Please consult NASA’s media invitation and this recording of an informational briefing for more details. Spots are limited and media representatives are responsible for their own travel costs. The final accreditation will be handled by STScI, ESA and Arianespace, for access to their respective facilities.
The James Webb Space Telescope is an international collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. Canada is contributing a scientific instrument and a guidance sensor to the massive observatory.
