Background information on the transmission:
due to a problem in the transmission chain, this feed was not received in Europe this morning. It will be re-broadcast, together with yesterday’s pre-launch feed at 14:00 GMT this afternoon. PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF SATELLITE PARAMETERS BELOW.
Standing on the launch pad in French Guyana the first ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle) is under the fairing of its Ariane launcher. Lift off is scheduled for the night of Saturday 8 to Sunday 9 march at 04.04 UTC. ESA’s “Jules Verne” ATV, at a mass of nearly 20 tonnes, is the heaviest and largest space vehicle ever built in Europe or to be launched by an Ariane 5. Once on orbit it will fly towards the International Space Station for re-supply, delivering experiments, equipment and spare parts, as well as food, air and water for the permanent onboard crew.
