Chandra Operations CXO Status Report 8 Feb 2002
During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.
Chandra passed through the second and third eclipses of the 2002 Spring season on Feb 3 and 5 with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was completed on 1 Feb to clear a glitch-counter that incremented during the first eclipse of the season. A flight software patch to configure the Electrical Power System for medium duration eclipses (the next 7) was uplinked on Feb 3.
A Chandra press release was issued on 6 Feb describing two discoveries about a distant quasar – a massive jet and an X-ray shadow cast by an intervening galaxy. For further details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/press/02_releases/press_020602.html
The observing schedule for next week is shown below and includes a series of long observations of the Hubble Deep Field North.
