TITLE: EDUCATION COORDINATOR (12-month Full Time)

ANTICIPATED HIRING DATE: November 2008

LOCATION: Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis

SALARY: Based on experience, minimum $30,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for student and teacher activities related to the Challenger Learning Center-

St. Louis, including teacher trainings, simulated space missions, Discovery Classroom programs, Scout programs, summer camps, professional development workshops and other related programs.

– Plan and conduct teacher training, Discovery Classroom programs, Scout programs, summer camps, professional development workshops, and other related programs.

– Develop and/or maintain curriculum materials, ensuring that all school-related materials are aligned with Missouri and Illinois state education standards.

– Conduct simulated space missions and related programs for schools, community, corporate, and public groups.

– Manage the after-school Explorer program.

– Conduct off-site workshops and other programs as needed.

– Develop and maintain a system to keep staff and the public apprised of current space news and events.

– Manage the evaluation process in conjunction with the St. Louis Science Center.

– Represent the Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis at business fairs, meetings, conferences and other related activities as needed.

– Develop and conduct presentations at regional and national conferences.

– Assist with marketing efforts to book missions and other related activities.

– Attend regular staff meetings.

– Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Bachelor’s degree in education, science or related field

– Teaching experience

– Demonstrated interest in space science

– Curriculum development experience preferred

– Strong presentation, communication and organization skills

– Experience working with both children and adults

– Dynamic, outgoing and creative personality

– Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
