DESC: Commerce Business Daily synopsis for NRA 01-OBPR-08, Research
Opportunities in Physical Sciences: The National Aeronautics
and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Biological and Physical
Research (OBPR) solicits proposals for research investigations
in support of research opportunities in Physical Sciences.
This solicitation is specific to the Physical Sciences Division
within the OBPR. This NRA solicits proposals for supporting
research, analysis, and technology across a broad range of
science disciplines relevant to the Physical Sciences Division,
including Combustion Science, Fundamental Physics, Materials
Science, Biotechnology, and Fluid Physics. In addition to these
disciplines, proposals are being solicited in a Special Focus
area described in the solicitation. Proposals requested by
this announcement are for ground-based and flight research
investigations.

This solicitation is open to university and
other non-profit research institutions, private sector organizations,
and other U.S. government agencies. This solicitation will
be available electronically via the Internet at http://research.hq.NASA.gov/code_u/open.cfm

starting December 10, 2001. It will be open for the period
through December 2, 2002; proposals may be submitted at any
time for each Physical Sciences discipline prior to the specified
due date listed below.

Further information about specific program
elements may be obtained from the individual OBPR Enterprise
Scientist listed in this NRA. Proposal due dates are staggered
from March 8, 2002 through December 2, 2002. Proposal due dates
are: Combustion Science March 8, 2002 Fundamental Physics Research
April 1, 2002 Materials Science Research June 3, 2002 Biotechnology
Research September 3, 2002 Special Focus Research September
3, 2002 Fluid Physics Research December 2, 2002 Electronically
submitted Notices of Intent to propose are requested.
