NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the conduct of a technology maturation program for three-dimensional inward-turning scramjet and rocket-based combined cycle (RBCC) flowpaths. The work will include the design of an inward-turning forebody-inlet model and the conduct of a ground test program to obtain inlet performance and operability data. Additionally, the work will include the conceptual design of an inward-turning flowpath and the demonstration of efficient airbreathing operation over Mach 3-15 flight conditions.

NASA/LaRC intends to contract for the above research study under the authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Astrox Corporation proposed the work via an unsolicited proposal dated August 2001.

The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26 and Note 22. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note “B”. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
