DESC: Amendment to the Extra-Solar Planets Advanced Missions
Concepts, NASA Research Announcement (NRA) 01-OSS-04 The Office
of Space Science (OSS) recognizes how unsettling the tragedy
of September 11 has been and the additional burden it may present
for those who are preparing proposals to the Extra-Solar Planets
Advanced Missions Concepts announced in NASA Research Announcement
(NRA) 01-OSS-04.
The deadline for submission of these proposals
was originally set for COB, Friday, October 12, 2001. However,
owing to the time lost in many work schedules and disruption
of travel due to the current national emergency, the following
changes to this schedule are being made: (1) The deadline for
submission of the required number of copies of the proposals
is extended to Friday, October 26, 2001. In addition, this
deadline may be met by demonstration of a postmark in the case
of the US Postal Service, or a “received on” date in the case
of a commercial shipper, by local midnight of that new deadline
date. (2) In order that OSS can proceed with the planning for
peer review, we are requiring that a fully completed and final
version of the proposal’s Cover Page/Proposal Summary be received
through the proposal submission Web site ( http://props.oss.hq.nasa.gov/
) by 4:30 Eastern Time on the new proposal deadline. These
are difficult times and it will be challenging to return to
“normal” pursuit of our research endeavors. We hope that these
changes will help all of us to meet this challenge. Philippe
