Dear colleagues,

As you may know from recent discussions both in Canada and around the world, the Moon is a high priority target for future robotic and human exploration missions. In response to this renewed interest in the Moon, a group of scientists and engineers, from academia and industry, from across Canada, have come together to form the Canadian Lunar Research Network (CLRN).

The CLRN is an Affiliate Member of the new NASA Lunar Science Institute. I was privileged to attend the kick-off meeting for NLSI this Monday and Tuesday at NASA Ames, where I shared a place at the table with the 7 U.S. teams and 2 other international teams from the UK and South Korea. There are exciting collaborative opportunities to be had for Canada.

I encourage you to visit our website (http://clrn.uwo.ca/), which outlines the goals of this group, the research being carried out, and the team members.

If you are interested in joining, please contact the CLRN Coordinator Dr. Irene Antonenko (iantonen@uwo.ca). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Irene, myself, or Ed Cloutis (the Deputy PI for CLRN).

Best regards,

Dr. Gordon “Oz” Osinski
Principal Investigator, Canadian Lunar Research Network
