ASGSR: Remembering Warren Halstead

ASGSR members,
 
As you know, ASGSR awards annually the Thora Halstead Young Investigator Award.  Thora’s family created this award after she passed away in 2016.  Thora’s daughter emailed us last week to alert ASGSR members who knew Thora personally that Thora’s husband, Warren, has now passed away at the age of 100.  Like me, most of you never met him but yet are grateful for the legacy award that he and his children created for ASGSR.  The short summary of his life at the link below highlights the remarkable life of one of the “Greatest Generation.”  An email from his daughter Gail Capp is repeated below:

Dear Family and Friends, 
 
I am sorry to share the news that my father passed away on March 20.  I was fortunate to spend the previous day with him during which time he and I were able to FaceTime with all three of his grandchildren, Paul, Katie and Kim.  He was alert and comfortable and the next day, he died peacefully in his sleep.  
 
We will have a viewing for him on Monday, March 28 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Murphy’s Funeral home in Falls Church, Virginia.
 
His funeral will be at a later date at Arlington Cemetery.

He had an amazing life in his 100 years here on Earth but now he can join my mother who he sorely missed since her passing six years ago.
