SUBJECT: Appointment of Acting NASA Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager

WHAT IS IT:?
Ernest Lopez, Ames Research Center (ARC) Information Technology
Security Manager (ITSM), has been named as Acting NASA SOC Operations
Manager.

Ernest began working at Ames in 1992. He is credited with the creation
and implementation of the local ARC Security Operations organization.

Ernest directly oversees and drives the vision for the ARC Security
Operations organization. Among his many responsibilities are the roles
of IT Security Division Chief, ARC Information Technology Security
Manager (ITSM), ARC Security Operations Manager and NASA Agency IT
Security Advisory Board member.

While serving as Acting NASA SOC Manager, Ernest will continue these duties.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT?:
Ernest will serve as Acting NASA SOC Manager until a new manager is selected.

Once the new NASA SOC Manager is selected, Ernest will oversee
on-boarding, personally helping to ensure a seamless, successful
transition.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?:
Effective immediately.

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?:
Please provide your full support throughout this transition.

achievement of the SOC becoming a Federal Center of Excellence for IT
Security.
