Description

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Space Science is releasing an Announcement of Opportunity (AO 03-OSS-01) for the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) Mission. Selection of a proposal through the final AO, once released, is intended to provide the instrument suite for the MMS mission. The science objectives covered by this AO are to explore and understand the fundamental plasma physics processes of, primarily, magnetic reconnection, and secondarily, particle acceleration and turbulence on both micro- and mesoscales in the Earth’s magnetosphere. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, foreign and domestic, including industry, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Government agencies. Upon the release date, specific guidance for proposal preparation will be available through the OSS home page by selecting “Research Opportunities” at: http://spacescience.nasa.gov/. Send comments to Dr. Mary Mellott, MMS Program Scientist, The Sun-Earth Connection Division, Code SS, Office of Space Science, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Washington, DC 20546-0001. FAX: (202) 358-3987; or E-mail: mmellott@hq.nasa.gov. This notice constitutes a broad agency announcement as contemplated in FAR 6.102 (d)(2).
