Background information on the transmission:
Please note that this transmission is on another satellite than the regular ESA TV Service transmissions. For satellite details, see below.
This live televised transmission features the launch of Claudie Haigneré, the first European woman to visit the International Space Station. She will be launched on board a Soyuz rocket from the Russian cosmodrome in Baikonur and is due to dock with the International Space Station on 23 October.
This transmission includes images of the launcher and of the VIP guests at the cosmodrome in Baikonur, and a two-camera feed from the Russian Space Station Control Centre Tsup near Moscow. Pre-reorded images of launch preparations in the days and hours before lift-off will be transmitted in two parts before lift-off, which is scheduled for 08:58 GMT.
For continuity, an ESA/CNES mission commentary will be provided in two audio channels, English and French. Wherever the images from Baikonur or Tsup carry international sound, there will be no mission commentary but clean international sound, on both channels.
