ADEOS-II (or”Midori II”) Orbit Calculations
H-IIA

The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) confirmed that the Advanced Earth Observing Satellite-II (or ÅgMidori IIÅg) launched at 10:31 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2002 (Japan Standard Time, JST) from the Tanegashima Space Centre was injected into the planned orbit.

The orbit calculation result is as follows.

Actual Value (Planned value)
Apogee altitude: 820 km (820 km)
Perigee altitude: 803 km (803 km)
Inclination: 98.7 degrees (98.7 degrees)
Revolution period 101 minutes (101 minutes)

It is also confirmed that the solar array paddle generates 6200 watts
(planned value: 5700W) of power.

Next report is scheduled to be issued at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 15 (JST).

It was confirmed that the solar array paddle (PDL) operates normally.
But, some data of the PDL tension monitoring system were found out of
specification and NASDA continues monitoring of the data.

An error flag was found in the telemetry data of the Advanced Microwave
Scanning Radiometer (AMSR), one of the mission instruments. NASDA
continues monitoring other AMSR telemetry data and judges that the
instrument is normal.
