The 2020 NASA Fundamental Physics and Quantum Technology Workshop will be held on April 5-7, 2020, at the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach hotel in Ventura, California, USA.

With the successful deployment of the Cold Atom Laboratory (CAL) to the International Space Station (ISS), and advanced plans in place for a DLR/NASA follow-on mission, NASA is seeking the science communitys input regarding future fundamental physics and quantum technology missions that will pioneer new discoveries and support NASAs exploration vision.

The workshop will provide a forum for fundamental physics scientists and technologists to share new results and to present and discuss pioneering research ideas for future space experimentation on the ISS, the Lunar Gateway, free-flying satellites, and the lunar surface in the following areas:

  • Quantum matter research
  • Quantum entanglement
  • Physics with optical clocks
  • Physics with atom interferometers
  • Dusty plasma physics with emphasis on lunar surface studies
  • Other

Day one will focus on keynote talks, NASA status, and invited and contributed presentations of new results from on-going projects, including the ISS CAL, the European Space Agency’s Plasma Kristall-4 and Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space projects, and the DLR/NASA Bose Einstein Condensate Cold Atom Laboratory (BECCAL) follow-on to CAL.

Day two will focus on future activities and missions. Contributed new research ideas will be presented, and parallel sessions along topical areas will be organized to develop plans and recommendations for NASA.

Day three will focus on presenting reports from each of the parallel sessions and a panel discussion.

All interested scientists, researchers, and government agency representatives are invited to participate. The participation of the current NASA-funded investigators or their representatives is kindly requested. Workshop participants are invited to submit abstracts for contributed talks and posters as part of their registration. The workshop website –http://icpi.nasaprs.com/FPWS2020– includes detailed registration, abstract submission, and venue information.

There is no registration fee to participate in the workshop.
